Full Job Description
The Benefits & Leave Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day operations of Sun Basket’s benefits, works towards improving existing ones, monitors benefits administration and provides exceptional customer service to the Company’s employees. TheCoordinator also manages company paid and unpaid leaves such as but not limited to: FMLA, unpaid leaves, and other State and Government leaves.  

What you'll do:

    • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
    • Maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and timeliness as well as accuracy of required reporting and fees.
    • Coordinate daily benefits processing; handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
    • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
    • Support with plan audits, prepare, collect & organize data for actuarial assessments.
    • Audit all benefit claims for self-insured purposes and resolve this with vendors for accuracy.
    • Responsible for ACA benefits reporting for fully insured benefits.
    • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package such as but not limited to: materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
    • Support with regulatory compliance including but not limited to: EEO compliance, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA and Disability.
    • Manage Company Leave Program in accordance to company policies as well as State and Government Laws such as but not limited to: FMLA, CFRA, unpaid leaves, etc.
    • Administer Company’s 401(k) plan, enrollments and quarterly & annual audits.
    • Partner with Accounting and Finance team to reconcile monthly invoices and submit for approval and payment.
    • Responsible for open enrollment and ability to use the HRIS benefits system and create standard reports.

Who you are, and why you're right for us:

    • B.S. in Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology or related field strongly preferred
    • 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources role or Customer Service role 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a can-do-attitude required
    • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with all levels of the organization
    • Excellent analytical skills and ability to transfer those to into various methods of communication
    • High level of flexibility and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
    • Intermediate Microsoft knowledge (i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other Gmail tools
    • Advanced working knowledge of State and Federal Employment Laws
    • Ability to work in a continuous changing environment, adapt to change and recalibrate work accordingly
    • Ability to travel to other company facilities and offices in CA and NJ (25%)
