Full Job Description
Sun Basket’s Business Development team is responsible for building strategic partnerships that drive rapid growth, deliver on and exceed revenue targets, and position Sun Basket as the pre-eminent brand in the space. We are looking to add a highly-motivated self-starter to our team as the Director of Business Development.  Our ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-growing start-up environment, as a highly strategic, results driven business development executive.  Having a strong background in online partnerships is a must, with strong in experience developing partnerships in one or more of the following areas elevating your candidacy: health insurers, health & wellness sites, CPG brands, and loyalty programs.
 
In this role, you will create the go-to-market strategy for your partnership verticals, identify and develop major partnerships to meet your revenue and growth goals, and build data-driven business models to get "green light" approval for your business deals with Sun Basket’s executive management. Upon landing major deals, you will work closely with major department stakeholders including product, engineering, and marketing to ensure the successful launch of the partnership before transitioning it over to the account management team. Success will be measured by your track record of being able to execute multiple high-value partnerships, your ability to achieve and exceed revenue targets, and your ability to balance multiple competing priorities with internal and external stakeholders.    

What you'll do:

    • Strategize:  You will have the proven experience and the ability to develop partnerships that will drive millions of dollars in value.  You will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of high-value partners in one or more channels such as healthcare, fitness, or wellness. Using a focused, yet scalable strategy, your deep understanding and experience in online partnerships, and strong business acumen, you will position the brand as a leader in the “Food as Medicine” space, leading to large, multi-million partnerships that are mutually rewarding for both Sun Basket and the partner.
    • Influence: As a natural influencer, you’ll develop and pitch the framework and roadmap to ensure strong and profitable partnerships. You must have the personable and analytical chops to pitch and convince high-level leadership that your partnerships make financial and brand sense for the business. 
    • Make Deals: You understand our marketplace, and because of that you will be required to build complex financial models that show the impact of your partnerships.  Through this, you will be able to identify, lead, negotiate, and close large deals. As our “deal-maker”, you’ll be putting all your highly-valued skills to work, including those of strategic planning, data analysis, pricing, partner program development, online campaigns, new product launch, and product and marketplace positioning.
    • Project Manage:  You will be responsible for managing the launch lifecycle of each partnership you put together, from initial contact to partnership on-boarding and project launch. As a proactive leader, you should be at ease working with multiple teams across the organization, while balancing the priorities of external stakeholders.  You must have the ability to manage multiple projects at one time, staying nimble in an ever-changing environment. As someone with a strong ability to adapt, you’ll be able to communicate your vision across different teams such as marketing, product, operations, and finance.  

Who you are and why you're right for us:

    • Proven track record with the ability to meet or exceed all revenue targets as set by the CMO & EVP of Sales and Business Development
    • 8+ years’ experience in business development, building strategic online partnerships at a leading online consumer brand company.
    • Successful experience and C-Suite and VP level relationships in one or more of the following industries: health insurance, health & wellness sites, leading CPG / food brands, and loyalty programs
    • Experience with online marketing campaigns, brand ambassadors, and affiliate marketing programs and strategies
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.  You should be comfortable building and presenting complex financial models that show impact of deals
    • Ability to thrive in a fast growing, dynamic environment.
    • Strong business acumen with a proven track record of effectively working with a variety of key players across the organization.
    • Extremely well organized.  You will be required to drive multiple initiatives at one time, with constantly evolving priorities, in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience using, SQL, Google Analytics, Social, Excel, and other key platforms and tools
    • BA in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field from a top school, MBA preferred
