JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Travel Desk, you are responsible for assisting our guests and staff with airline ticketing and logistics in getting to the start of their tour and home from the end of their tour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the following duties well. Additional duties may be added or assigned at any time.
- Design flight itineraries for all inbound air requests from guests, staff and guides offering them the best options considering route and cost.
- Learn airline change and cancellation policies as well as our travel insurance policy advising guests of these details when flight reservations are confirmed.
- Assist our ticketed guests with the purchase of advance seating when applicable.
- Continue to manage all airline reservations made by our team up to and including travel, helping our guests and staff with schedule changes, flight cancellations and seat changes.
- Send final flight confirmations to guests who utilize our Travel Desk.
- International and domestic ticketing via GDS platform.
- An understanding of airline commission contracts.
- Be familiar and fluent with processing voluntary and involuntary exchanges and refunds.
- When called upon you will be required to assist our guests with emergency situations such as canceled flights, delayed arrivals, missed connections etc. during work hours and on occasion after work hours.
- Reserve additional hotel nights and transfers.
- Perform weekly & monthly reporting of air sales and commissions.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
BA/BS degree is preferred. Minimum 3+ years of international and domestic ticketing using the Amadeus GDS is strongly desired. We may consider applicants with experience using another GDS system for ticketing. A background in travel or hospitality industry preferred.
Communication Skills
Using the English language, this person must possess the ability to effectively communicate --both in writing and orally-- with a professional demeanor.
Additional Skills & Abilities
- Proficient computer skills in the Windows operating system, including both word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Proficient use of Amadeus or an alternative GDS ticketing system for international and domestic ticketing, exchanges, and refunds.
- Strong skills in time management, handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- The ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment.
- Must be able to display exceptional professionalism.
- Exceptional customer service abilities at all times and in all situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee will also be required to write and type.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation commensurate with experience: Base salary of $55,000-$65,000, plus annual bonus.
This position comes with generous Paid Time Off and paid holidays. Benefits include site inspection on Natural Habitat Adventures trips and pro deals on outdoor clothing. Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period of time.
LOCATION
Nat Hab currently has a hybrid work model, with some days working in-person at the office (optional) and some days working from home for those employees who live near the Nat Hab headquarters in Boulder County, Colorado. This is subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Residing in the Denver Metro Area is preferred but not required.
