Full Job Description

As a member of the senior management this individual will have an active and integral role in the development of the company’s sales organization, in addition to driving the growth and overall strategy of the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development and goal setting by channel, category and customer in conjunction with other senior management members
  • Manage our national broker team to ensure delivery of business objectives through distribution growth, proper placement, and strategic market share gains
  • Plan, manage, and negotiate spending to deliver the brand financial objectives within established budget constraints
  • Analyze, monitor, and report on sales by channel, category and customer on a weekly basis, problem-solving and trouble-shooting as problems arise
  • Coordinate with operations to manage the forecast, production, and in-stock levels
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of timely sales forecasts, reports and other key metrics related to the company’s business plan
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitive conditions, customer needs and opportunities to design and support strategies to capitalize on business development opportunities
  • Conduct store audits (with broker management and/or field sales reps where possible) to ensure merchandising standards are adhered to and promotional programming is being executed
  • Ability to lead, participate in, and facilitate customer and group meetings
  • Constantly strive to improve internal processes and reporting, and act as a mentor to other team members

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Sales experience at a CPG start-up within the natural, conventional, mass, and club channels. Candidate will need to posses ability to rapidly develop an in-­‐depth knowledge of company products and business operations. The position requires team and individual leadership skills as well as a strong sense of urgency in all matters related to the health of the business.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a sales management capacity in the natural/organic food industry
  • Highly analytical with excellent creative problem solving skills
  • Strong relationships and an excellent reputation with retailers, distributors, and brokers in the natural and conventional channels
  • Expert in syndicated data analysis (IRI, SPINS, retailer portals)

Above all, this person must possess the highest levels of integrity and character with a limitless amount of energy and creativity. Honed analytical problem solving skills are essential. A strong desire and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Team oriented, collegial, and collaborative traits a must. Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Company is based in Corte Madera, CA (Marin) but position is eligible for remote location
  • Report to CEO/Founder
  • Position eligible for Equity and Bonus
