Job Purpose

This position will produce absurdly fresh, high quality, high integrity and competitively priced meal kit recipes for Good Eggs Meal Kits, an incredibly popular and bestselling program at the heart of our product assortment. This position is a contract position, beginning September 30th, and running through November 22nd. This role will require 30 hours/week.

Duties and responsibilities

• Research, pitch, write, and develop recipes, including quick and easy weeknight dinners; appetizers, salads, and sides; healthy eating solutions; and kids’ lunches 
• Follow our brand guidelines and culinary philosophy, become completely immersed in our marketplace, and specifically feature ingredients from the marketplace  
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional test kitchen, testing recipes and products on site at Good Eggs headquarters in the Bayview
• Partner with the senior editor of the test kitchen, developing concepts, reviewing recipe lists, responding to copy edit queries, taking in testing notes, and reviewing final proofs 
• Coordinate with the test kitchen cook, planning testing, ordering ingredients, and transferring ingredient lists to spreadsheets  
• Support the photo studio on shoot weeks, attending pre-pro meetings, answering questions
• Coordinate across departments, attending weekly sync meetings, requesting ingredients from category managers, and premade components from the production kitchen in Oakland 
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 to 7 years of experience writing and developing recipes for brands or publications, and ideally for a meal kit company 
• Strong culinary knowledge and experience, preferably in a test kitchen, restaurants, and/or culinary school
• Passion for creating quick and easy solutions for busy working parents 
• Passion for sourcing highly seasonal ingredients from beloved local farms, ranches, and other small producers
• Ability to find smart, creative, and innovative solutions
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to be a team player—no egos
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment—this is a startup, there will be changes
• Proficiency in Google suite software (i.e. Google docs and spreadsheets)
