Job Purpose

This position will purchase absurdly fresh, high quality, high integrity and competitively priced goods in an assigned group of categories or commodities that will be sold through the Good Eggs marketplace.  The main function of this role is to keep availability high for assigned categories while keeping spoilage costs to a minimum. Exacting attention to detail needed to manage PO and cost change reconciliations across multiple tools.

Duties and responsibilities

• Purchase product within assigned categories or commodities
  • Provide short-term forecasts to producer partners for upcoming needs
• Maintain high availability in the marketplace 
  • Monitor all out of stocks and increase order volume as necessary
  • Interpret projections from Data team to ensure adequate supply to fulfill demand in multiple warehouses
  • Ensure that Never Out availability is above 95% and Total availability is above 90% weekly
• Minimize spoilage costs
  • Optimize weekly ordering to reduce spoilage
  • Work with Operations team to optimize product delivery to and storage in foodhubs
  •  Stay under target spoilage goal for assigned categories
• Own PO data accuracy
  • Reconcile invoices against received purchase orders
  • Make and resolve credit requests
  • Reconcile cost changes within internal product catalog
• Keep Days On Hand (DOH) to target goals by storage zone and category
• Coordinate launch of new items, in-season items and webstands with Category Managers and eCommerce Merchandisers
• Coordinate with Inbound team and Category Managers to resolve any producer behavior, reliability, and compliance issues
• Escalate the need for updates in our ordering tools and reports as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years relevant work experience
• Incredible attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Understanding of margins and profitability
• Outstanding communication and time management skills
• Experience in procurement / purchasing is a plus, preferably in the grocery industry
  • Familiarity with top products and brands within their category is a plus
  • Experience managing relationships with outside vendors is a plus
• Proficiency in Google and MS Office suite software (i.e. spreadsheets, presentation, and word processing software)
• Ability to understand and engage with new tools, including providing feedback on internal software
